NIKON D40X (20mm, f/9, 1/10 sec, ISO100) I was intrigued by the description of a small lake close to Bardonecchia (NW Italy), called “Green Lake” because it should look green, so I went there to check how much green it was… and it was a lot! The color is caused by a sort of green seaweed on the lake bottom. It is shallow, and the water is very clear, so the color of the seaweed is very, very evident, as you can see here. A wonderful walk in an enchanting valley.
NIKON D40X (200mm, f/5.6, 1/640 sec, ISO100) I was in mountain during a quite gray day. Sometimes a small clear patch happened in the clouds, and I was lucky enough to capture these peaks which came out for few minutes. They make me think to a dreamy atmosphere. The picture was taken in Lanzo valley (NW Italy)
NIKON D40X (200mm, f/10, 1/400 sec, ISO100) Some fishermen were on the Ceresole Reale dam lake (yet quite empty in this season). I was fascinated by their positions and the few colors present: just the blue over the b/w. I had to wait until some cloud shadows came to help to avoid a too much white background. The result is an image with some fairy-tale setting.
NIKON D40X (70mm, f/11, 1/2.5 sec, ISO100) Seen that the global warming effect seems to reduce the amount of snow which falls in winter, a future Christmas card image shooted in locations similar to this one (Lanzo Valley) could look alike this: trees with no leaf, just evergreens emerging from the quiescent nature, nothing white. The necessity of a more balanced approach towards the environment become more evident day by day, as pointed out by these kind of indicators too. The fact that this image could be considered appealing from the visual point of view is another story.
