The oblique light which graze the snow make it looking similar to velvet. Light and shadows give the idea of smooth waves. I was impressed by the poetry of the evening light, and I tried to capture it.

A lucky combination: a day with strong wind (so the sky is clear and blue), the position of the moon close to the mountain, and the subject is ready to be photographed. Just a touch of polarizer and it’s done. In my humble opinion, a minimalistic set of colors like here results in a stronger image.

A wonderful small church over the town of Castellane (Haute Provence – South of France). The church is placed on the top of a rock, which, even if when seen from the town looks a demanding hike, is an easy and nice walk of half-hour. When on the top, I was fascinated by how the church is well amalgamented with the mountain, and by the silence. The presence of nice clouds helped me to take this shoot when resting on the side of the rock.

There was still some morning fog in the countryside when I saw these couple of trees and the sun almost covered by the clouds. The feeling was, one more time, silence, loneliness and mistery. The noise of the shot was the only one to disturb the muffled atmosphere. Magic.

Early morning after the biggest snowfall of the last 20 years here. I was fascinated by the symmetry given by the trees and the garden seats. Also the “sky” done by the branches was intriguing. The image is b/w, but there were so little different colors, that also in color would have been almost the same.

Coming back home and looking to the opposite side of the upcoming setting sun, I saw these hoar frosted trees and their background. The dark sky behind was too much appealing to just look and forget, so I quickly stopped (it was really cold) to take this shoot , an unperfect one, but -again- I liked too much the colors to avoid taking this one.

Looking to the sky I saw this color contrast between the evening blue and the reddish clouds. I moved to a position where the winterly naked trees could be included in the image. They added a sort of silhouette and texture to the image, so to avoid a picture quite similar to a flag reproduction. I see this image both graphic and abstract as well as a style research picture.

I had some spare time to spend, so I climbed up to the square in front of the Rivoli castle, with the Collegiata Alta bell-tower and Turin hill in the background . Even if not late, it was almost night, and i took some shots to get some colors which are available just for few minutes at the dusk. Color balance in this kind of image is always a compromise, and the contrast between the cold sky and the warm artificial light usually results in nice postcard-like pictures, especially using HDR technique.

It was a really cold morning. The frost on the grass was quite thick even for the season. I took this image to communicate the sense of abandon which often in winter has the countryside. It’s a strong feeling, which together with silence leave you breathless. The use of sepia tint enhance this feeling.
Early morning, going to work driving in the Asti area, the first silent mists were all around me. I decide to stop briefly to take some pictures. In my mind the evanescence of the far background, the few trees in the middle and the soft sunlight render well the idea of the upcoming autumn season.
I took this picture inspired by the silence of the moment and the aluminium of the chair, a solitary presence in a solitary hallway. I think this description is a bit emblematic about some aspect of modern life.
I was tempted to convert the picture in B/W, but looking better I found the general “champagne” tonality of the image, which has anyway very few colors, appealing with this dominance, so I choose to keep it as is.
