Colourful cornfield and sky

Walking in the surroundings of my home, I saw the great contrast between the oblique row of corns, the bare tree and the sky. I admit I pushed a bit with contrast, saturation and so on, but this time, NO HDR! 🙂

The Castle of Rivoli

This is a very classical style picture, very didactic (also known as a “postcard picture”) of the Castle of Rivoli. It’s style was inspired by the wonderful HDR images by Trey Ratcliff blog Stuckincustoms.com. Walking around the castle, I found what was looking to me as a good place and a good light to shoot a picture like the Trey ones.

Rivoli by night

DSC_2061NIKON D40X (40mm, f/7.1, 7.1 sec, ISO100)
I had some spare time to spend, so I climbed up to the square in front of the Rivoli castle, with the Collegiata Alta bell-tower and Turin hill in the background . Even if not late, it was almost night, and i took some shots to get some colors which are available just for few minutes at the dusk. Color balance in this kind of image is always a compromise, and the contrast between the cold sky and the warm artificial light usually results in nice postcard-like pictures, especially using HDR technique.
