What’s there?

The contrast between the inside and outside light has always fascinated me, and this candid image show this. Furthermore this picture make me think that the subject was curios about what’s over there, hence the title.

Mont Blanc window

During a trip to the Mont Blanc, at the Aguille du Midi, I catch my wife staring  at the mountain top from a window in the hallway. The contrast between the outside light and the inside just left my wife image emerging from the dark. It was a lucky shot, done without pose and organization.

Above the clouds

DSC_2196NIKON D40X (38mm, f/4.5, 1/40 sec, ISO100)
Flying over the Alps, coming back home in the evening, I noticed the clouds below moved by strong winds in many waves, following the orography of the mountains. I found interesting this effect, especially if compared with the clear sky over them. I choose to use black and white because it stress the attention to the wave shapes.

White symmetry

DSC_2172NIKON D40X (82mm, f/5.3, 1/80 sec, ISO100)
Early morning after the biggest snowfall of the last 20 years here. I was fascinated by the symmetry given by the trees and the garden seats. Also the “sky” done by the branches was intriguing. The image is b/w, but there were so little different colors, that also in color would have been almost the same.

Update: this is my first image which has been accepted on , a very interesting artsproject. If you like great images, take a look there.

Update2: This image was selected as a noteworthy in the Photofriday challenge with the “White” theme on 20 January 2009. Thanks to all who voted for this image!

Roof tiles and snow

DSC_2084NIKON D40X (200mm, f/36, 1/2 sec, ISO100)
Cold, ugly, with snow and rain. These are the adjective which came up to my mind describing this day. Looking the gray sky I saw anyway these roof tiles, with their quiet order which doesn’t care of the weather. I like their strong appearance, and their classical color. The result is this graphical and somehow abstract (again!) image.

Eremo antenna towers

DSC_0133NIKON D40X (200mm, f/5.6, 1/40 sec, ISO100)
Late evening, exiting as last visitors of the Infini. To Astronomical Park, I discovered this contrast between the Eremo technological antenna towers and the Alps behind them in their dusk colors. I just played a little bit with the colors to get a more realistic contrast feeling between the clouds (still in the sun) and the ground (already in the dark). I think that the contrast between the “vertical modern” and the “horizontal natural” subjects is an interesting comparison.
