I did not think that I had to find both cows and such fog so high in mountain. Well, more than fog it was a cloud, but this looks to be not so important for the final result. By the way we had to move away sometime later, because looks like that we were invading some part of the grass field that the cows wants to stay free form humans.
I’ve been invited by some friends for a dinner in an airfield. The dinner took place in the hangar, where the planes were all around (literally!). Of course a great light contrast, and a result which looks quite surreal and, in my eyes, interesting. Here it is.
When visiting Messer Tulipano tulip exposition at the Castello di Pralormo, I saw this dandelion staying alone far from the tulips field. It set off me mixed feelings: loneliness, distinction, parting, standing out, … don’t know what’s the most appropriate, anyway here it is.
Glamorous Elena, a beautiful Van’s RV-7 belonging to a friend of mine, resting in the afternoon in Valdera airfield. The plane shape from this angle, the propeller position, diagonal to the image, and the strong colors are the reason for this picture.
NIKON D40X (200mm, f/5.6, 1/200 sec, ISO100) I found this plantation in the middle of Southern France. I like the regular disposition of the trees and that they’re almost all similar in size. The long lens compression effect helps a lot this image.
NIKON D40X (55mm, f/5.6, 1/125 sec, ISO100) Walking in the surroundings of my home, I saw the great contrast between the oblique row of corns, the bare tree and the sky. I admit I pushed a bit with contrast, saturation and so on, but this time, NO HDR! 🙂
NIKON D40X (18mm, f/8, 1/250 sec, ISO100) The World Air Games, take place in Turin (Italy) from 6 to 9 June 2009 (you can see a lot of infos on the WAG2009 website). I’m one of the judges for the Paragliding Accuracy competition, which is on the Avigliana lake: The landing spot is on a raft in the lake (the same used by the paragliding aerobatics, hang-gliding aerobatics and speed-run competition). I don’t have much spare time to take photos during my duty as judge, but I’m lucky to be in a privileged position, so I was able to get some pictures while on the landing field. This is one of them. Hope you like it…
NIKON D40X (112mm, f/5.6, 1/13 sec, ISO100) Early morning (I like this period of the day), travelling in coutryside, I saw that abandoned farm. There was still snow on the ground (even if not just fallen down). I was intrigued too by the solitary and naked trees: there’s a sum between the empty building, the lonely trees and the flat white ground. Loneliness maybe the right word to describe it
NIKON D40X (55mm, f/4.8, 1/40 sec, ISO100) It was a really cold morning. The frost on the grass was quite thick even for the season. I took this image to communicate the sense of abandon which often in winter has the countryside. It’s a strong feeling, which together with silence leave you breathless. The use of sepia tint enhance this feeling.
NIKON D40X (105mm, f/5.6, 1/160 sec, ISO100) Travelling to Milan on the highway I was looking to the autumn sunrise. When I saw on the side a poplar field, I quickly stopped to take this risky photo with the sun among them. Why risky? Because the poplar are thin, and the wind easily move them, so a multiple HDR shot means having some ghosts in the image. If you look carefully, you can see them. They can be corrected, of course, but I found that they gave to the image some kind of 3D appearance, so I left them.
