International Women’s Day

Yes, I know, I’m a bit late in celebrating the International Women’s Day, but I wasn’t able to publish this image in time. Anyway this is my little contribution to this important celebration. Women deserve all the support they can get, and even more. This mimosa (technically Silver Wattle) image, thanks to a windy day, has bright colors and a deep blue sky. Yellow and blue stay together very well.

Regular

I found this plantation in the middle of Southern France. I like the regular disposition of the trees and that they’re almost all similar in size. The long lens compression effect helps a lot this image.

Colourful cornfield and sky

Walking in the surroundings of my home, I saw the great contrast between the oblique row of corns, the bare tree and the sky. I admit I pushed a bit with contrast, saturation and so on, but this time, NO HDR! 🙂

White symmetry

DSC_2172NIKON D40X (82mm, f/5.3, 1/80 sec, ISO100)
Early morning after the biggest snowfall of the last 20 years here. I was fascinated by the symmetry given by the trees and the garden seats. Also the “sky” done by the branches was intriguing. The image is b/w, but there were so little different colors, that also in color would have been almost the same.

Update: this is my first image which has been accepted on , a very interesting artsproject. If you like great images, take a look there.

Update2: This image was selected as a noteworthy in the Photofriday challenge with the “White” theme on 20 January 2009. Thanks to all who voted for this image!

Naked trees and sky

DSC_2032NIKON D40X (34mm, f/7.1, 1/2 sec, ISO100)
Looking to the sky I saw this color contrast between the evening blue and the reddish clouds. I moved to a position where the winterly naked trees could be included in the image. They added a sort of silhouette and texture to the image, so to avoid  a picture quite similar to a flag reproduction. I see this image both graphic and abstract as well as a style research picture.

Frosted leafs

Some fallen leaf in a gardenNIKON D40X (200mm, f/5.6, 1/15 sec, ISO100)

The autumn is leaving space for the winter. One of the signs of this period is the little frost you can find over a carpet of leafs in a public garden. Of course you need to wake up early in the morning to take this kind of pictures, because the frost is very delicate, and it’s quickly melted by the normal temperature of the period.
